Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the First Grade! I am thrilled to be your child's teacher this year and am looking forward to a year full of learning, growth, and fun. As we embark on this exciting journey together, I wanted to share some important information and expectations to ensure a successful and productive school year.

Our curriculum this year will focus on developing foundational skills in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies. To do this, we will use a variety of engaging and valuable activities.

• Reading: Students will work on phonics, reading comprehension, and fluency. They will also explore a variety of genres and participate in whole and small-group reading activities.
• Writing: We will practice writing complete sentences, learn basic grammar and punctuation, and begin writing short stories and descriptive paragraphs.
• Mathematics: Our focus will be on number sense, addition and subtraction, telling time, money, and understanding basic geometric shapes.
• Science and Social Studies: Students will explore topics such as plants and animals, weather, community helpers, and national holidays.

In our classroom, we emphasize respect, responsibility, and a positive, growth mindset. We will work together to create a supportive and inclusive environment where every student feels valued and encouraged to do their best.
